Frequently Asked Questions

How do I identify if I have a lice problem?

If you start feeling an itch, especially around the hairline, it's time to investigate. Adult lice can appear light and translucent or warm brown. Their eggs, often seen as white, are very sticky and usually found close to the scalp, attached to hair strands.

Does having head lice mean I have dirty hair?

No, having head lice does not mean you have dirty hair. This is a common myth. Lice do not discriminate and can infest all types of hair, including clean hair. There's no need to feel embarrassed; having lice is a common issue that many people face.

How do lice spread?

Lice spread primarily through head-to-head contact, crawling from one person's hair to another's. This debunks the myth that they can jump. Sharing items that come into contact with the head, such as hats or pillows, also increases the risk of spreading lice. Lice are just as likely to infest clean hair as they are dirty hair.

Do lice live on pillows and linen?

Lice live on pillows and linen. They can survive up to two days without the host.

Why use a natural product?

The rise of 'super lice' has made traditional lice treatments less effective, as lice have become resistant to the neurotoxic chemicals in many current products. Using a natural lice treatment ensures the safety of your child’s developing brain while being gentle on their hair and scalp. Plus, it's still highly effective in combating lice.

Why choose Nitflik?

The infused oils in Nitflik defend against lice naturally. The eggs are unable to have a hold on the hair, making it easy to shampoo and condition out. This makes it a convenient and time effcient process.

What ages can Nitflik be used on?

Nitflik Simple Lice Defence can be used on children 2 years and above, right through to adults.

Can Nitflik Lice Defence be used on dreadlocks?

Yes, Nitflik Lice Treatment can be used on dreadlocks. Our products include instructions on how to treat dreadlocks.

Can I use Nitflik Lice Treatment to treat hair at home?

Yes, absolutely. Nitflik Lice Treatment is designed to be used at home, in the comfort of your own bathroom.

How long does the treatment take?

The preparation, application, washing and conditioning process takes approximately 60 minutes for long hair. The Nitflik solution is left in the hair for 6 hours, instead of combing the hair for 6 hours. This is an important part of the process to ensure the natural oils have time to work against the hair lice.

How do I use the product?

To use, simply add the sachet provided to the Nitflik solution bottle, shake for 30 seconds and spray onto the hair, starting around the hairline first. Use the tail comb provided to separate the hair into 1cm sections, then spray at the roots and length of hair. Apply the cap and leave for 6 hours.

Do I have to use a comb?

The infused essential oils will kill the lice naturally and effectively, and the eggs will be unable to retain a hold on the hair. It's therefore not necessary to use a comb, but you may choose to use the tail comb provided to comb the hair just before you shampoo the hair or after you condition it.

Can I use the Scrub Shampoo and Smooth Conditioner on their own?

Yes, you can continue to use the Scrub Shampoo and Smooth Conditioner on their own after the treatment. They not only help defend against lice but also promote healthy hair and scalp, assisting in tangle-free hair.

Why do I need to use the pillow spray?

Using the pillow spray helps ensure a peaceful night's sleep by treating your pillow and linens, effectively eliminating any lice or eggs that may be present. This not only improves your comfort but also enhances the overall effectiveness of the lice treatment.

Who shouldn't use the product?

Anyone who is either pregnant, sensitive to the main ingredients or under 2 years of age should not use the product.
